Prospect Rating

Thank you for visiting The Cleat Sheet. When we scout players, we will be measuring them with two key rating systems. The first, and the most common, is simply their Prospect Rating.

Prospect Rating – Standard across the industry. This will be determined on a scale between 20 – 80:

20 – 30 These players are barely worth talking about, usually MiLB Veterans, well below average

40 – 50 These players are prospects but have a lot to work on.

50 is average

50 – 60 These players are expected to make a major league impact at some point in their careers.

60 – 70 These players are studs, Futures Game participants, possible future All-Stars.

70 – 80 These players are as close to guaranteed stars as prospects can be. They are the most valuable commodities in baseball.
